Why It Matters: Misconduct allegations inside DOJ are soaring at the same time the office responsible for investigating them is being gutted. That leaves DOJ lawyers with fewer consequences for abusing their power.

Trump Administration to Deregulate Head Start
What Happened: Trump officials are moving to eliminate most of Head Start’s 133 pages of federal requirements, including standards for class sizes, math and literacy instruction, medical and dental screenings, and home visits. Head Start currently provides early education, health care, and other support to roughly 700,000 low-income children.
Why It Matters: Head Start was created to provide poor children with more than basic child care, including education, health screenings, nutrition, and family support. Trump officials are stripping away many of the standards that make those services part of the program.
